Levels, experience points and progression points.
Levels.
When start playing at Dungeons and treasures, or when a new quest starts at the beginning of the month, you start at level 1. The level you are defines the type of dungeon you are going to find when you go under the tavern. So, if you are in level 1 and you go under the tavern, you will find a level 1 dungeon. In this level you will find the weakest and easiest to kill monsters, but also the quantity of gold you will find in the chests and in the floor of level 1 dungeons is the lowest, so it is desirable to climb up to the highest level posible and collect as much gold as possible in that level.
Some new players often find disappointing the low quantity of gold you find in the low levels. If you are one of them, don't quit, keep on playing and climbing up levels and you will see that as you are playing more and more dungeons, the quantity of gold you find in them will increase.
The maximum level you can reach is 100.
Experience points.
The way of climbing up levels is by acumulating experience points (XP is the acronym used in the game). You will gain XP every time you kill a monster. The number of XP you will win is random, but it also depends on the strengh of the monster and on whether you have drunk a potion of learning.
Let's have a look at the board to see where you can find how many experience points you have:
As you can see, from the
top to the bottom there is the gold I have collected so far. Below is my balance, in DT dollars (will be converted into real
dollars) Below is my rank (Viscount) Below is a star
and the number 18, meaning that I have 18 star
points. and then there is a sword. Over it there is the level I am in,
(49), and below it says XP left: 9. That means I have
to get 9 XP to ascend to level 50. At the bottom you see the injuries I have (0), the lives remanining (2) and the
Progression Points
The number of experience points you have to accumulate to raise a level varies with the level. you will have to accumulate 50 + 10 X #level to ascend to next level. So, for level 10 you will have to accumulate 150 XP and for level 50 you will have to accumulate 550 XP. The higher the level, the more difficult to pass. Luckily, level 50 dungeons have more monsters than level 10 dungeons and they are more powerful, so you will get more XP to kill them.
Progression Points
The higher the level you are playing, the more dangerous the monsters are. To compensate, you receive 3 progression points each time you reach a new level. You can use these progression points to raise your skills (attack, defense or ruse) Once you reach level 10, you will be given 6 progression points instead of 3, and you will be able to raise your magic as well as your skills
Many people commit the mistake of not raising their skills and when they go beyond level 10 they complain because they got killed very easily. Remember, assign your progression points, otherwise you won't be able to complete the high level dungeons.
When your level is lower than 10, you can only raise your
skills. Once you reach level 10 you will be able to raise your attack and
defence magic. Now, What is the best strategy to spend your progression points?
What I found is that you have to raise your attack and defense skills as much as possible, but you cannot go higher that the level
you have plus 2. So if you are at level 22, you can only raise your attack and defense up to 24, and you should do that way. Then, what
can you do with the remaining progression points? If you are under level 10 you can only raise your Ruse, but if you are over level 10
you can also raise your magic. I recommend to pick one magic skill, say air, and raise its attack to the top. (to the level you are plus 2)
and then distribute your remaining points evenly among the 4 magic defenses. (see second pic).
Then, you can go to the magic shop and buy some Spells. If you
have topped your air magic attack, then buy some devastating lighting spells. You will be able to use spells more efficiently
if you have raised your air magic attack. If not, you can also use potions (air potions) to increase the power of air spells.
Same if you top your earth magic attack, you should buy earthquakes.
Ruse
Appart from killing monsters you can also capture them. In low levels the only thing you will need to capture monsters is a net, (buy it at the shop/market and wear it at the miscellaneous equipment on my equipment page) For higher levels capturing monsters becomes more and more difficult, so you need to raise your ruse skill to be able to capture monsters in high levels. The drawback?, you won't be given experience points and therefore, you won't climb up levels.
Is it recommended to raise your ruse? It depends on how much do you expect to play. If you are playing to reach level 100, and keep playing at that level for some days then I strongly recommend to raise your ruse levels since you won't be able to capture monsters at level 100 with low ruse levels, and once you reach level 100 it is more profitable to capture monsters than to kill them. But if you don't plan to reach level 100, then don't increase your ruse skills, it is better to kill monsters, get experience points and play at high dungeon levels.
