Weapons, armors and nets.
Weapons.
In order to fight against the monsters, you need to use weapons. Actually, you can use your hands, but unless your are playing level 1, chances are you get killed really quick. You can buy and have as many weapons as you want, but you can only wear 3 when you enter a dungeon. It is not wise, though, to buy a lot of weapons, since you will be using gold pieces to buy those weapons and the main objetive of the game is to collect as much gold as possible.
Basically, there are two kinds of weapons, swords and Daggers. The main difference between those two is that your character only have 3 free positions to wear and use weapons and you can place any kind of weapon in the first two positions, but you have to wear a dagger in the third one. So, you can use 3 weapons inside the dungeon, up to two of them can be swords, and the third one can only be occupied by a dagger.
You can buy swords and daggers in the shops (go to menu:Place-Shops and then
click on weapons shop in the main window) or in the market. (go to menu:Place-markets and then click on Players market)
Next to the name of the weapon you will see a number, (in this case +6) This number tells you the strength of the weapon. The higher the number, the easier to kill monsters with it, but also the more expensive it will be. Usually you will find up to +8 graded weapons in the shop but much higher (+16) graded weapons in the market, but the weapons those high strength swords and daggers are sold for a fortune (up to 49.999 gold).
Don't commit the mistake of buying a highly graded (+12 or more) and very fragile weapon and use it as your primary weapon. It will break a lot and it will cost you a fortune to repair it.
If you hover the mouse pointer over a weapon, a window like the
one on the right will appear. There you can see other properties of the sword of dagger, some weapons give you extra defense or attack
against one kind of monsters, or extra magic attack or defense. The last feature given in the hoover window is the reliability of the
weapon. It tells you the chances of breaking of your weapon. If the weapon is very fragile, it will break a lot, and you will have
to repair it at the shop, for a price. So, it is wise to have a strong or very strong weapon as the primary one to fight
against monsters.
Which weapon should you buy?
It depends on your objetives, but anyway, when you start a new quest, you will have a few gold pieces, most likely 500 or a bit more if you are lucky in the treasure hunt, so you will have to buy a solid sword +1 and/or a solid dagger +1 to use in the first levels.
Then, it depends on whether you are going to be knight for the whole month and play only the daily dungeon or if you are going to upgrade to baron or more and try to reach level 100. In the first case, I would recommend to buy a sword +6 or so with good reliability (strong to very strong) You will be able to fight and win with that weapon against level 60 monsters and more without being injured a lot.
If you are aiming at level 100, then it would be useful to have a strong sword and dagger (+10 or so) with extra strengh against certain kinds of monsters, and use them when you are fighting against that specific monster. Those kind of weapons usually are fragile. I recommend having a very reliable weapon as a primary one, and then 2 +10 or more weapons to use against stubborn monsters
Armors.
As you may have guessed, armors prevent you from being injured by monsters. If you go to menu:my Equipment you will notice that you can wear a helmet, an armor, a pair of gloves, a cloak and a shield. All these armors can be bought either at the shop or at the market, the ones at the market being more expensive but giving you more protection.
As in with weapons, you can also have armors with different strengh
although armors strengh numbers usually don't go as high as +5. If you hoover over an armor, a hoover window appears telling you the
special characteristics of that particuar armor. In the example on the picture on the left, the shield of Pol +3 has
extra defense magic and extra defense against Tentacloths, Plasmas and Lizard Men.
Armors are more expensive than weapons, but the good news are that they don't break, so you don't have to spend money to repair them. And same as with weapons, you can sell them in the market, or in the shop at the end of the month, for a loss though.
Which armors shoud I buy?
You don't need armors to survive in the first levels, and you can play happily up to level 20 without any armors. But since they don't break and you can sell them at shop at the end of the month, then it is wise to buy some. Again, if you are going to play as knight only the daily dungeons, then I recommend buying just one armor as soon as you have enough gold. Any one with a +1 or +2 should be enough to keep you safe until level 50 or so.
But if you want you reach level 100, you may want to buy two or three different armors, say, a helmet, an armor and a shield. Make sure that you cover the maximum range of defense, in both magic and against the largest number or monsters. If a particular kind of monster always kills you, then buy an armor with extra protection against that monster, and don't forget to wear it at the My Equipment screen.
Nets
Nets are used to capture monsters. And I only recommend capturing monsters once you have reached level 100. Otherwise it is more profitable to kill them and gain experience points.
The only 2 types of nets I have seen are the normal and the strong (+1) net. I always buy the strong one. You can also sell it at the shop at the end of the month, so I see no point in buying the normal net instead of the strong one. If after buying a net you are not able to capture monsters because there is no option in the dungeon menu, then maybe you forgot to go to menu:My Equipment and place your net under Miscellaneous Equipment.
